Relax & indulge in our beautiful, historical Tea Rooms & Garden

Nestled in the heart of Colyton, next to the Heritage Centre, Merchant’s Tea Rooms is the perfect spot to savour a cup of loose-leaf tea, indulgent hot chocolate or locally roasted coffee, served in fine china by our welcoming staff.

Why not treat yourself to a tasty bacon butty for breakfast, perhaps a light lunch of pea & mint soup, or mushroom, brie & leek quiche, followed by an unbeatable Cream Tea with warm, homemade scones, lashings of clotted cream & selection of artisanal jams? Savoury Teas with cheddar & rosemary scones, cream cheese & red onion chutney are also incredibly popular. Our gluten-free & vegan scones go quickly, so it’s best to order in advance!

Afternoon Tea Treats come on pretty tiered stands & include a choice of sandwiches/quiches, scones & delicious cakes & bakes. Now partnered with award-winning Baboo, pots of gorgeous gelato & sorbet can be eaten in or taken away. Please ask about our vegan, gluten & dairy free options, as despite our small size, we try to cater for as wide a range of tastes & dietary requirements as we can.

Friendly dogs are welcome inside & out in our delightful walled garden, which is perfect in the late spring, summer & early autumn. Please do consider booking as we have a limited number of larger tables, but may be able to accommodate you with prior notice.

We are also available to hire & cater for private parties.
